I graduated in July, 2006 with an MFA-IA from Goddard College, VT.
I began my studies in the winter of 2004 and chose as my overall study plan to explore the meaning of "wilderness" through the symbol of the labyrinth. I chose this when I realized that a "Wilderness Garden" is a wooded garden in which there is a labyrinth or maze, (the difference between "labyrinth" and "maze" to be discussed in another post).
At the gate of my interdisciplinary labyrinth, I was surprised by the Green Man. The Green Man is an ancient archetype. There is much more to write about him, too, but one of his many meanings is "the fruit of learning". With this meaning in mind, I have chosen him as my logo because my work as an artist, writer and photographer is the fruit of my learning.
I hope to expound on the Green Man as I go along in this blog and welcome information/ideas that you might have about the Green Man.
